Stories and Writing (2026 onwards)
I'm not done writing yet!
- Feathered Things
- A Stuffed Nightingale
- Pump-Action Heartbeat or She Hides Her Face Behind Flowers; sci-fi
- Clean-Handed Blood was one of those stories where elements accumulate for a year and then you get the whole thing written in one day. I like that.
- Dates Under a New Moon was the product of a sudden burst of inspiration. I feel like the central metaphor/mechanism is a bit weak... it's short, at least.
- The Human Game! is more simplistic in style than usual. Full of playground mythologizing, cynicism, and exclamation marks. Two (?) more stories with the same characters are in the works.
- Manual Disassebly (this one isn't that good, read the others instead; this was half-finished last year and I finally completed it, hence the disjointed nature)
- Between Two Mirrors was half-written in late 2024, but I only got around to finishing it now. It's not the kind of thing I would have written now, anyway... it's full of that half-proud and half-miserable alienation I felt from humanity around that time. But I'm glad that I wrote about it back then, because I can go back and read through half-finished drafts and understand, and I can take the parts and turn them into something more... moderate, perhaps, still full of that old bile but with a touch of whatever it is I have now... wisdom, I hope. This was a nice exercise, at least; I had almost forgotten about it. I might go back and finish up some of my other exercises in self-pitying misanthropy that I used to write. I think that highschool me would appreciate that.
- Here's a poem or two: Mystery Meat
- The Injustice of the World
- And this isn't a story, but it's still going here:
